Rajya Sabha Poll in Assam: Five aspirants collect forms for nominations

GUWAHATI: So far five aspirants have collected forms of nomination papers from the Returning Officer for the Rajya Sabha election slated to be held on March 26, 2020, in the State.
The five aspirants who have collected forms for their nominations are senior journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan, senior BPF leader Biswajit Daimary, Kazi Nekib Ahmed, Sapatoon Begum, and Moitree Sarma.
The last date for filing of nomination papers is March 13. The election will be held from 9 am to 4 pm on March 26. While the scrutiny of nomination papers is on March 16, the last date of withdrawal of nomination papers is March 18.
The electoral college has a strength of 124 MLAs at present. The election will be held against three vacant seats in the Upper House.
