Release Upadhyay: Gorkha body to ULFA

Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 20: The Assam Gorkha Sanmilan (AGS) has made an appeal to the ULFA to release Dinanath Upadhyay who was abducted on June 8 from Tinsukia district. The Sanmilan says that the enmity among Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sarma, businessman Radha Chetia and the ULFA should not make Upadhyay the scapegoat.

Sanmilan’s executive president Krisha Bhujel said: “Dinanath Upadhyay is a poor and innocent person. Any harm to such an innocent person is not going to benefit any of the parties involved. Maybe, he’s being used by someone. We, therefore, appeal to the ULFA to release Upadhyay on humanitarian ground.” Dinanath Upadhyay, an employee of Phoneng Tea Estate in Tinsukia district, was abducted from the TE on June 8.
