Ripun slams Amit Shah, questions character of BJP-PDP alliance in J&K

GUWAHATI, May 22: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora came out all guns blazing against the BJP and its national president Amit Shah at a press meet in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Addressing reporters, Bora said that Amit shah, during his visit to the city on Sunday, termed the emerging Congress- Janata Dal (S) alliance in Karnataka as unholy. In his response, Bora said that if the new alliance in the southern state is unholy, one would only question the character of the BJP-PDP alliance in J&K. He pointed out that the PDP had called Afjal Guru a martyr and also criticized the hanging of Pak terror monger Ajmal Kasab. He also said that likewise, J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba’s father had earlier extended support to the Hurriat movement.

Referring to Bihar, Bora said that Laloo-led RJD and the JD(U) entered into a pre-poll alliance and also formed a coalition government. But later the JD(U) joined hands with the BJP to form the government. Bora questioned if that was holy.

In the matter of the North-east, Bora said that the AGP is a member of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA). However, he pointed out that the AGP is vehemently opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, which it did at the NEDA meet itself. Bora questioned if the alliance is holy or unholy.

Further in Meghalaya, the NPP which is in league with the BJP is opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Bora questioned the character of the alliance in the neighbouring state.

Vehemently slamming the recent hike in the prices of petrol and diesel, which has touched an all time high in the aftermath of the Karnataka polls, Bora said that BJP Government is working to promote the interest of the corporate sector.

The APCC chief also demanded a CBI probe into the anomalies into the examination conducted by the Panchayat and Rural Development department recently for appointment to various posts. He also demanded the resignation of the concerned Minister Naba Kr Doley.

Bora further said that the tall claim by the BJP that the North-east is heading towards being Congress-free would never be. On the contrary, he added that it will boomerang on the saffron party.
