Rita Chowdhury to receive Birangana Mulagabharu Award

GUWAHATI: The Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Assam has announced the Birangana Mulagabharu Award 2023. This year the award will be presented to noted litterateur and Sahitya Akademi Award recipient Rita Chowdhury.

The Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Assam has been giving away the Birangana Mulagabharu Award every year since 2013. The first award was presented to noted litteratuer Chitralata Phukan. In 2021, the award was presented to Rati Prabha Gogoi and in 2022, it was presented to activist Sumitra Hazarika.

The award will be presented to Rita Chowdhury on April 2, 2023 at a function to be held at Sonari in the Charaideo district. The award carried an Ahom war costume, a hengdang, a citation and a cheque of Rs 25,000.
