GUWAHATI: The All India Road Transport Workers Federation (AIRTWF), the Assam State Committee on Thursday staged a protest at NH37, Khanapara against the ban on entry of commercial vehicles to Meghalaya.

The AIRTWF demanded to withdraw the ban of entry of commercial vehicles to Meghalaya. It also urged the State government to impose fees on Meghalaya tourists and drivers coming to Assam in the name of COVID testing.

"The government should also stop taking tax in the tollgate from the visitors and commercial vehicles until and unless the construction of roads gets completed," AIRTWF demanded.

Further, the federation urged the Assam government to arrange for COVID-19 testing centers for the drivers and tourists at the Assam-Meghalaya border.
