GUWAHATI: Despite the rise in COVID-19 cases, the violation of lockdown norms continues in the State. According to a report issued by the Assam Police, the department has realized a fine of Rs 52,20,100 in the State from people for not wearing masks. As many as 4,634 persons have been arrested for violation of lockdown norms in the State since March 25 to Tuesday.

The Assam Police said that 3214 cases have been registered and 3459 incidents have been reported during the period. In this regard, a sum of Rs 4,18,24,650 have been collected as fine from people for defying the restrictions.

Besides, 33,477 vehicles have been seized out of which 29,743 are two wheelers, 682 are three wheelers and 2,935 are four wheelers. Apart from these 23 country boats and 11 machine boats have also been seized.

As part of its proactive stand against the spread of fake news, the Assam Police has registered 97 cases and arrested 51 persons. The total containment zones in the State as on Tuesday are 176.
