GUWAHATI: Candidates of the three-party ruling coalition will win the bye-elections for the five LACs (Legislative Assembly Constituencies) in Assam slated on October 30, emphasised the leaders of the coalition comprising the AGP (Asom Gana Parishad), the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), and the UPPL (United People's Party Liberal).

Addressing a joint press conference of the ruling coalition at the AGP head office at Ambari here on Wednesday, BJP president Bhabesh Kalita said, "The rainbow alliance is committed to resolve the issues of the masses of the State. Already many steps have been initiated, and many more measures are being planned to address the long-pending issues of the people of the State."

Kalita pointed out, "The coalition candidates from the UPPL will file their nomination papers from Tamulpur and Gossaigaon in the BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) on October 7. Our candidates will file nominations for Thowra, Mariani, and Bhabanipur on October 8. The three coalition parties will canvass jointly."

Addressing the media at the same venue, AGP president Minister Atul Bora added, "The electorates of Assam will surely ensure the victory of our candidates. We have got positive indications from the grassroots.

"The coalition government has initiated many steps for the overall development of all the sectors across the State. The entire process will be accelerated in the days to come."

On the occasion, UPPL president and BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) chief Pramod Boro stated, ""We will support the BJP candidate from Bhabanipur."

Boro added, "The masses have given us the reins of power in the BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region). We are committed to fulfilling their dreams of a peaceful and progressive society. Earlier, the Bodoland was engulfed in violence and various forms of disturbances. But now, the government's pro-development steps have yielded the desired results in the BTR. The masses are now enjoying security in all aspects."
