However, it has failed to secure the interests of Government employees and pensioners. Asserting that the Government must protect the future of its employees and teachers, Sarma said that pension is not a grant but the due right of each employee.

The issues which the Chief Minister had ordered to be resolved included provision of free healthcare, enhancement of privilege leave for teachers, preparation of service rules for all services under all departments, and grant of promotion by creating ex-cadre posts.

Sarma informed that all the issues were discussed at the SAKP's executive meeting at Jorhat on Sunday. The participants at the meeting expressed concern at the inaction of the Government and decided to resort to an agitational programme is the grievances are not redressed within a month.
