SAKP ceasework against CAA complete success as no employees of State Govt attend offices

Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI: Works in State government offices came to a grinding halt on Wednesday with the ceasework called by the SAKP (Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad) against the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) becoming total. No employees of the State Government attended their offices. In the State Secretariat, barring two or so officials in the Home and Political department, no other officials were seen. Employees of the Assam Assembly Secretariat, on the other hand, came to their offices with a gamosa each in the morning. They, however, demonstrated in front of the Assembly Gate with gamosas and raised their demand for the cancellation of the CAA. Some leaders and members of the SAKP, on the other hand, joined the mass satyagraha of the AASU (All Assam Students’ Union). SAKP president Basab Chandra Kalita and secretary general Fakur Uddin Ahmed thanked the State government employees for making the ceasework a success. They said that they will continue to lend moral support to the democratic movement against the CAA.
