Sanitary Coverage Moving Up To 90% in Assam: Assam Mission Director Siddharth Singh

GUWAHATI: Stating that the State government has been playing an active role in providing improved sanitation facilities and promoting cleanliness and hygienic, Swach Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G), Assam Mission Director Siddharth Singh said, “In the last few years, we are giving our continuous efforts in reaching out of those families in rural areas to promote the message of sanitation and providing sanitary toilets.”

The MD added, “SBM-Gramin saw a significant success in providing sanitary toilets in rural people, moving up the sanitary coverage from just 52% in March 2016 to nearly 90% as on July 2018.” He informed the reporters that more than 4.7 million families are using improved sanitary facilities in the rural Assam. Under the SBM-Gramin, approximately 28 lakh toilets are constructed across the state, he added.

Singh said this while addressing the reporters in connection with the inauguration of the Swacchta Rath organized at the Administrative Staff College, Khanapara on Tuesday.
