GUWAHATI: The All Assam Sanyogi Siksha Karmi Union (AASSKU) has demanded the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) Mission to publish an advertisement regarding the conduct of special TET for the Sanyogi teachers within November 15.

In a statement, AASSKU president AbulKalam said, "On September 21 the union held discussions with the SSA Mission Director B KalyanChakraborty. In the meeting, a decision was taken to conduct special TET for the Sanyogi teachers. According to the decision, the document verification process of Sanyogi teachers in every district was started. However, due to the SSA's casual attitude the examination process was not completed."

The AASSKU demanded that document verification process should be completed within November 15 following which the advertisement should be published. The Union threatened to stage protests if their demands are not met.

Earlier, Union's secretary MridulRajbongshi said, "We were appointed as LP Schools' Sanyogi teachers in 2005-06 to bring school dropout students back to the classroom. However, on March 31, 2012 our jobs were terminated without any notice. We, 6363 primary teachers, became jobless all of a sudden. We had many meetings with the government since then and the government kept us on the tenterhooks only with assurances. We also had meetings with the SSA, but to no avail.

"In the meantime, 3559 of us acquired the D.El.Ed. diploma. However, our appointments have not been started as yet. Now we want the government to spell out if it will ensure our jobs or not."
