GUWAHATI: As part of the celebration of National Unity Day in remembrance of Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai, a photo exhibition was organized by the Regional Office of the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) Guwahati under the Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting here on Monday.
The exhibition showcased panels of the illustrations life and immense contributions of the legendary freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, informed a press release.
Queen Ojha, MP (Lok Sabha), inaugurated the exhibition. In her inaugural address, Ojha said that this day is an important day for the whole nation as we celebrate the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel across the country. Sardar Patel tried to unify India through his ideal of unity in diversity, she said.
Ojha also added that his dedication, struggle and sacrifice for the nation will always be remembered by generations to come. Welcoming the gathering, CBC Guwahati Deputy Director, Arijit Chakraborty elaborated on the importance of National Unity Day.
He said that the Vigilance Awareness Week is also being celebrated by various Government departments coinciding with the birthday of Sardar Patel. The main aim of the Vigilance Awareness Week is to increase public awareness about the perils of corruption.
On the occasion, two pledges on National Unity Day and Vigilance Awareness Week were taken by the officials of CBC, Guwahati and Press Information Bureau (PIB), Guwahati. Hiramani Das, Field Exhibition Officer of CBC Guwahati thanked the staff members and the audience for making the exhibition a grand success. Private registered troupe of CBC Guwahati performed a street play based on the life of Sardar Patel and a patriotic dance in the occasion. A quiz competition on the theme was also organized among the audience and prizes were distributed.
