Satgaon police arrested ‘Fake baba’, in jail

GUWAHATI: A ‘fake baba’ has been arrested by Satgaon police on the suspicion of his involvement in children and women trafficking.

According to the police, a ten-year-old boy from Juripar under Satgaon Police Station had been missing for a few days. However, on Saturday Gautam Acharya alias Siddique Baba went to the family members of the boy and demanded Rs 2,000 for his safe release. Sniffing a rat, the family members of the boy informed the police of the matter and filed a case (38/2020 u/s 363 IPC) in that connection.

The police raided the Ashram of Gautam Acharya located at Khanapara on Saturday and rescued the boy from there. The police arrested the ‘fake baba’, produced him before the court on Sunday. The court sent him to judicial custody. Gautam Acharya hails from Kolakhowa village under Naoboicha Police Station Lakhimpur district.
