SEBA changes exam pattern for Class-9 & Class-10

GUWAHATI: The Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) has announced that from the ongoing academic session of 2022-2023, question papers for the English, Mathematics, Science and Social Science examinations of Class-9 (Unit Test, Half-Yearly & Annual) and Class-10 (Unit Test, Half-Yearly, Pre-Board & HSLC) will comprise of 50 per cent objective type and 50 per cent descriptive type of questions.

A Notification issued by the SEBA has also mentioned that the mark sheets of the Unit Test, Half-Yearly and Annual (for Class-9) and Pre-Board examination for Class-10 will have to be uploaded in the SEBA portal by the schools concerned immediately after the evaluation. The answer scripts of all candidates appearing in the Unit Test and half-yearly examinations will have to be shared with the parents and guardians so that they are made aware of the mistakes committed by the students, the Notification added.

The SEBA Notification further laid down the weightage to be taken for 6 subjects - English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Advanced Mathematics and Geography - having Internal Assessment (IA) marks for the Annual examination of Class-9 and Pre Board examination of Class-10. From now on, weightage of 20 per cent marks each will be given to Theory and IA marks obtained in Unit Test-1, 20 per cent each to Theory and IA marks of Unit-11, 30 per cent Theory and IA marks obtained in Half-yearly examinations and 50 per cent Theory and IA marks each of Annual and Pre-Board examinations.
