SEBA issues stricter rules for remaining HSLC exams

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: After the leakage of the question papers for the HSLC (High School Leaving Examination), the SEBA (Board of Secondary Education) has taken major decisions. Special officers will be present in every police station at the time of receiving the question papers for the ongoing HSLC examinations.

SEBA has issued a notice to all the school inspectors regarding steps to be taken in the examination centers. SEBA directed the state to follow certain important points for strict compliance for all the remaining days of the HSLC examination.

The order said every Inspector of Schools will nominate an officer of the Education Department or a senior teacher for each Police Station or Police out Post who will be present at the time of receiving the question paper packets kept in the Police Station or Police out Post by the Centre-in-charge of the examination centre. This nominated officer or senior teacher should not be involved in other duties relating to the conduct of the examination. It must be ensured by both the Centre- in-charge and the nominated officer/teacher that the number of question paper packets available at the police station or police outpost tally with the number of packets sent from the SEBA office, the details of which are with the Centre-in-charge itself. Furthermore, the seals of each packet of question papers must be intact.

Further, proper frisking of the candidates must be done. Centre-in-charge must appoint staff to assist the police personnel deployed in the centre for the frisking of the candidates, as was done in the previous examination.

Also, the Centre-in-charge will appoint at least two invigilators in each room of the examination centres. In cases where there are more candidates, more invigilators must be appointed as per requirement. The invigilators will remain vigilant throughout the examination rooms so that the candidates do not engage in any kind of malpractice, and actions should be taken against those involved in any kind of malpractice by the invigilators. The assistance of the police personnel deployed in the centre may be taken to restrict all kinds of interference from external sources as and when necessary. Responsible officers and staff should also be engaged to ensure this in every centre.
