Six Weapons with Live Bullets Seized at South Sarania near Ulubari

GUWAHATI: As many as four air guns along with 26 live bullets, one double-barreled shotgun with 96 live bullets and another .22 bore rifle along with 674 live bullets were recovered on Saturday from a residence located at South Sarania near Ulubari. According to a police source, a team of the Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) on Saturday went to seal the residence of one Nirod Deka at South Sarania, Ulubari. Notably, a loan amounting to Rs 42 lakh was left unpaid which was sanctioned in the name of Nirod Deka. Following the lapses, while the team of OBC went to seal the house of Deka, those six weapons and live bullets were recovered from his residence. However, the source added that Deka possessed a license against the seized weapons.
