Sixth Prabhawati Saikia lecture delivered at Vivekananda Kendra, Uzan Bazar

GUWAHATI: Like the previous years, the Bhabendra Kumar Saikia-Prabhawati Saikia Smritirakshya Samiti organized the sixth Prabhwati Saikia Memorial Lecture at Williamson Magor auditorium at Vivekananda Kendra at Uzan Bazar here on Saturday. The event was chaired by Retired Justice of Guwahati High Court, Dhiresh Narayan Chowdhury.

The event started with the felicitation of guests with a traditional aarnai by Pari Saikia and Rumi Saikia. The distinguished guests included Justice Hitesh Kumar Sharma, Retired Justice Prasanta Kumar Saikia, noted singer Pulok Banarjee, IIE Director Abhijit Sharma, and other dignitaries. The welcome speech was addressed by working President Chandrajit Saikia.

Noted educationist and litterateur Dr Tilottama Mishra, delivered the lecture on the emergence of new individual consciousness on the writing of women biography.

Retired Regional Director NE of NIPCCD, Dr Kusum Goswami spoke at length about Prabhawati Saikia, and her outstanding contribution in the field of school education and her association with various social works.

The first Bhabendra Kumar Saikia Memorial Award was conferred to former State minister and renowned Socialist leader Ramani Barman. The award held a memento, cash of Rs 10 thousand and an angabastra.
