Smuggling Of Rice in Nalbari District

GUWAHATI: Gorchuck Police seized a rice laden truck (AS 25 DC 1968) at Gorchuck on Tuesday night. Driver Ataur Rahman and handyman Rubul Ali from Mukalmua in Nalbari district were apprehended. Upon being questioned, they could not produce valid documents for the assignment of rice. It may be mentioned that another rice-laden truck from Barpeta district was seized by Jalukbari police, which was reported in the Sentinel on January 20. The police feel that the rice was being smuggled.
