GUWAHATI: The All Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Parishad (AAJYP) has appealed to the government to take initiative to permanently resolve the issues of illegal immigrants, unemployment, flood and erosion and many other problems like inclusion of indigenous people’s name into the NRC etc. Apart from their demands of providing dual citizenship and establishing industries in Assam, the AAJYP has demanded immediate action for providing unemployment allowance from the State as well as the Central governments.

Addressing a press meet at Guwahati Press Club on Sunday, AAJYP general secretary Sandeep Prasad Neog said, “According to a survey conducted in 2011, there’re around 30 lakh unemployed in the state, and it might have increased to one crore now. But there’s no initiative taken by the government to resolve this issue. Rs 5,000 provided to unemployed youth for developing their skill, but the amount is not adequate. So, we demand the Central and State governments to take initiative as they have lots of thing yet to do in terms of unemployment issue.” AAJYP president Ramen Choudhury said, “If the government passes the Citizenship Amendment Bill, we’ll be bound take action against it. We’ll never agree to the Central government’s decision of one-nation one-language and it’ll never turn into reality in Assam. Instead, we demand to declare Assamese as the state language for Assam.”
