Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal felicitates meritorious students of Assam Police personnel

GUWAHATI, July 11: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today felicitated 131 meritorious students belonging to Assam Police fraternity who secured 85 per cent and above in the HSLC and HS examinations at a programme held at ITA Centre of Performing Arts on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal termed the students as human resources of the state and requested them to work hard to bring about qualitative changes in society. He also called upon the students to strive hard to fulfill their aims and aspirations.

Sonowal asked the meritorious students to take the responsibility through their studies and success for repositioning the Northeast as the spring board of India’s Act East Policy. He also said Assam is geo-strategically located in the Northeast and Guwahati is its gateway. The recently held Advantage Assam: India’s Expressway to ASEAN has sufficiently pitched Guwahati as the gateway to South East Asian Countries. In such a changed situation in the region the students have the greater role to play to intellectually stimulate society for better and positive changes.

Referring to the north-eastern region’s great potential which is beaming with possibilities and prosperities, Sonowal called upon the students to take a greater role in making the region the reservoir of energy. He also said, “The future of the entire nation hinges on you and you only can complement the State government’s efforts in making Assam one of the best states of the country”.

Sonowal also said that Assam Police personnel symbolize dutifulness. They remain in duty day in and day out and ensure security and safety of common people. Like their parents, the students should also dedicate themselves to the duty of studies to bring about fundamental changes in society.

Acknowledging the good results of the students, Sonowal, as a mark of encouragement to the students, announced a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each. He, at the same time, appealed to the students to imbibe good human qualities and make a society eulogizing the values of humanity. He also gave an opportunity to a couple of students to speak on the occasion and express their experiences.

Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Hrishikesh Goswami, while speaking on the occasion, said that every human being is endowed with divine energy. He appealed to the guardians and teachers of the students to guide the students to help them bring out their divine potential. He also advised the students to inculcate the values like will-power, inquisitiveness, discipline, creativity, self-confidence etc to overcome all challenges in their life. He also stated the example of the greats like Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and advised the students to emulate his life to reach their respective destinations.

Director of Indian Institute of Information Technology Gautam Baruah and Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia also spoke on the occasion.
