GUWAHATI: Spend time with your parents. This was the message given by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his speech during the Independence Day programme in Guwahati on Sunday.
The Chief Minister announced that the government would grant seven days' leave in a year to its employees. This leave, he said, will have to utilized by the employees with their parents. He said that if government employees wished to take their parents for any religious pilgrimage, they could apply for this seven-day leave.
The Chief Minister also urged State Government employees to work an hour extra if needed in the interest of the public. He also said that during the State holidays on the tithi of Srimanta Sankardev and Srimanta Madhavdev, programmes should be held in government offices, schools and educational institutions to propogate the teachings of the saints.
