GUWAHATI, Jan 18: Eminent cultural activist Dr Amiya Mohan Das was conferred with the Srijan Award for the year 2021 by socio-cultural organization 'SRIJAN, A Journey Into The Soul' at a function held at Guwahati Press Club on January 17 on the sidelines of Silpi Divas celebrations.
The award carries a Gamosa, an Eri Sador, a Xarai and a citation.
'SRIJAN — A Journey Into The Soul' is a socio-cultural organization that has been formed for meaningful discussions in the sphere of arts, literature and culture.
Dr Das, who was associated with Rupkonwar, Kalaguru and Natasurjya, said in his award acceptance speech that Jyoti Sangeet, both in terms of its lyrics and melody, has the power to attract, mesmerize and charm generation after generation.
Floral tributes were also paid to Rupkonwar before the start of the function that was held under the chairmanship of eminent poet and writer Atanu Bhattacharya.
Eminent cultural activist Loknath Goswami, who attended the function as the chief guest, spoke about Rupkonwar's contributions towards the greater Assamese society and its cultural landscape. Several other eminent personalities from the cultural and literary sphere also attended the function. Writer and author Shikha Saikia gave the welcome address, stated a release.
