GUWAHATI: Spadework has started for holding of organizational elections of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC).

The APCC held a two-day meeting at the Rajiv Bhawan on Tuesday and today to discuss organizational elections and organizational issues. The meeting was attended, among others, by All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and Assam in-charge Jitendra Singh, AICC secretary Prithviraj Sathe and APCC president Bhupen Kumar Borah.

The meeting held separate discussions with district returning officers and block returning officers.

APCC general secretary and in-charge of membership & organizational elections Manash Borah said, "The process of organizational elections of our party has already started, as directed by the centrl election authority, AICC."

Borah said that the membership drive launched in November, 2021 ended in March 31 this year. Now the process for elections at the booth and block level committees is underway and will be completed within this month, he informed, adding that there are 272 block committees of the APCC.

After the booth and block level elections, polls will be held from June 1 to July 20 for electing presidents, vice-presidents, treasurers and executive committees of 34 district Congress committees (DCC).

Finally, election of APCC executive committee, including the president, vice-presidents and treasurer, will take place between July 31 and August 20, Borah said.
