State Bank of India Officers’ Association -NEC demands CBI probe into killing of officer

GUWAHATI, Oct 10: The State Bank of India Officers’ Association (SBIOA)-North Eastern Circle (NEC) has condemned the killing of SBI’s Dadara Branch Service Manager Junu Sarma by miscreants at Agiathori in Kamrup district on Tuesday, and demanded CBI inquiry into the killing.

In a statement issued to the press on Wednesday, the association has also threatened to go for an agitation if the government does not order CBI inquiry into the killing. The murder, according to the association, took place at a time when all bank employees and officers are under tremendous pressure to meet the public demand along with the pressure of the government/management for fulfilling targets. “Of late, all our officers have been working for more than 12 hours a day and incidents like this will only demoralize them and bring in a sense of fear and abhorrence among them,” the association said.
