State BJP President accuses Congress for allegedly attacking AASU workers in Nalbari

Guwahati: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state President, Ranjeet Kumar Dass on Tuesday alleged that the state Congress party has been trying to infuriate hatred among the AASU and BJP party.

He further alleged the members of the Congress party were involved in attacking the AASU protesters in Nalbari’s Ghograpara on January 27, 2019, amid an ongoing protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, thus, trying to deteriorate the image of the BJP party.

Addressing a press conference at Guwahati party office at Hengrabari, Dass also stated that the Congress party members on Sunday helped to instigated the attack on the AASU workers during the protest. They were also behind the attack on the AASU activists in the police station too.

"Nalbari District Congress Committee Spokesperson Khanin Lahakar, Nalbari Legislative Assembly Yuva Congress President Gyandeep Kalita, Nalbari Legislative Assembly Yuva Congress General Secretary Moinul Islam, Bhagrapara Block Congress Media Convener Abdul Ali, Nalbari District Congress Vice President Sarat Kalita were involved in instigating the attack at Nalbari," alleged Ranjit Dass.

He also mentioned that firstly they pelted stones at the protesters at Ghograpara, thus, making out a chaotic situation in the area. Later, the AASU protesters were attacked with sticks by the Congress members.

"The police and AASU must investigate the matter," Dass suggested.

The AASU will never protest with sticks,” Dass added further.
