GUWAHATI: The State Government had decided to hold a Gunotsav under Samagra Siksha Asom, which was strongly opposed due to clash with the annual examinations.

It was informed that the State Government has decided to conduct Gunotsav in 2019, covering classes 2 to 9 of all government, provincialised and tea garden schools. It was to be held in two phases in December in 33 districts of the State. The first phase was to be from December 3 to 6, 2019, and the second phase from December 11 to 20, 2019.

The Assam Madhyamik Siksha and Karmachari Sangshta disapproved of the dates as in the dates clashed with the examinations in the current academic year. Understanding the conflict in dates, the Education Department has decided to defer the Gunotsav to January in the next academic session. However, the dates have not yet been finalized.
