State government trying to disrupt anti-CAA convention to be held on March 18, alleges SFI

GUWAHATI: The state-unit of Students’ Federation of India (SFI), on Friday alleged the State government of creating hindrance to disrupt the anti-CAA convention which is scheduled to be held on March 18.

The SFI Assam state committee leaders claimed that the administration has stated that it will not allow the presence of All India SFI general secretary Mayukh Biswas and JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh in the convention. It further claimed that the administration is only following the government.

Addressing a press meet, the SFI state leadership Kashyap Choudhury, Nirangkush Nath and Sangeeta Das criticized the government and said that the federation condemns the oppressive policy of the government. It further mentioned that SFI is determined to conduct the convention and it will not abide by any kind of oppressive policies imposed by the government.

It is to be mentioned that besides the issue of the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act), the SFI Assam State Committee is organizing this convention to ‘save public education’. It claimed that the government is taking private policies by not providing necessary infrastructure and teachers in public schools.
