Stolen areca nut found, eight arrested by Palasbari Police

GUWAHATI: Twenty-two bags of supari (betel nut or areca nut) that had been stolen from the Bijay Nagar godown of Sanjay Jain a few days ago were recovered from the Bijay Nagar godown of Subhash Jain on Sunday.

Eight persons, including Subhash Jain, were arrested in this connection by Palasbari Police. A case (560/20 u/s 257/380 IPC) has been registered in this connection. The seven other persons arrested in this connection have been identified as Yusuf Ali, Yusuf Talukdar, Arman Khan, Saiful Islam and Abul Kalam of Barpeta; Ali Hussain of Chhaygaon; and Pasan Ali of Boko.
