Swami Chittaranjan Debbarma to be conferred Krishna Chandra Award 2019

GUWAHATI: The Purvottar Janajati Shiksha Samiti (PJSS) on Friday said that it will confer the Krishna Chandra Gandhi Award 2019 on social activist Swami Chittaranjan Debbarma of Tripura.

The PJSS said that it has been conferring the award since 2007 as a mark of respect to Krishna Chandra Gandhi who was a great social organizer and a torchbearer in spreading education in tribal areas of the northeast region.

The PJSS said that the award will be conferred to Swami Chittaranjan Debbarma on February 25 at Muktadhara Auditorium, Agartala. The Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb will grace the occasion as the chief guest and president of Vidya Bharati Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Sansthan, D Ramkrishna Rao will be present as the chief speaker. The Committee further said that they hope that the Krishna Chandra Gandhi Award will inspire the public, voluntary organizations etc. towards working in tribal areas to spread education and development.
