GUWAHATI: The ‘Swaraj Assam’ on Monday lodged an FIR against a number of Bengali organizations’ leaders at Dispur police station allegedly for the destruction of public properties, creating vandalism and for humiliating women on November 3. In the FIR, the Swaraj Assam pleaded the Dispur police to arrest the alleged leaders at the earliest and prosecute for contempt of Court. Notably, the Swaraj Assam alleged that during the Assam bandh called on November 3, the ‘Bengali Yuba Chatra Federation’ leaders Deepak Dey, Nirmal Kanti Sil, Sadou ‘Asom Bengali Haikhya Manch’ leaders Shantanu Mukherjee, Arun Roy, Sukumar Biswas and ‘Bongobashi Samaj’ leader Pradip Sen Sarma along with their supporters created havoc and humiliated a number of women commoners on public places. “The series of vandalism committed by them is nothing other than a contempt of Court and they should be arrested at the earliest,” Swaraj Assam said in its FIR.
