GUWAHATI: “I want to be a simple human who feels cosy to be with the common people,” said Taare Zameen Par-famed actor Darsheel Safary.

Darsheel Safary is in Guwahati. He took part in the first Guwahati International Children Film Festival that got underway at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra here.

Darsheel Safary said, “Right now my thrust is on theatre and my own documentary films. As of now, I haven’t decided to sign any a film or drama. However, I am going through a few scripts. I will take the decision on time.”

In his third visit to Guwahati, he said, “At present I haven’t decided pick up any Bollywood project. Now I am concentrating more on training myself. I am also planning to pursue my higher studies in filmmaking. I want to take my time in doing the next film of my career. I want to go for theatre as I can learn more from live audience’s comment which will make me more confident. I’ll get to learn more in theatre.”

When asked on his education, he said: “Over the years I didn’t stress more on education on the belief that there’s time to read. However, I was made to know the value of education by a person. My assumption was that I would pass the matriculation with just 40 per cent marks. I was shocked when I secured 80 per cent marks in the exam.”

On his acting career, he said: “I played the role of three characters that differ as cheese and chalk. However, I got to learn from each of the three characters. With Taare Zameen Par I am very happy. The film has changed my life. I was too young at that time to understand the importance of the film. I was very lucky that my parents and my school principal helped me a lot. I think that was the movie which changed my life and also made some impact in the society. I think people will always remember me because of Taare Zameen Par. I was also lucky enough to work with Amir Khan (uncle) who taught me so well in the film. After the release of the movie it was a little difficult for me to come out from home. But I love to roam around with my friends and traveling more.”

About Guwahati, the young actor said, “Guwahati is a wonderful place. The people over here are so humble and down to earth which I love the most. I always love coming to this place anytime. It is quite peaceful in comparison to Mumbai. I am very happy that such a film festival is underway here. It is important for people to learn how to distinguish good films from bad ones.”
