Guwahati: Since the pandemic hit the state Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) will be the second election in the state which is all set to begin from tomorrow (December 17).

After Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election, all eyes on the TAC polls now.

A total of 3,08,409 voters will seal the fate of 124 candidates who are in the poll fray

The election for the 36 constituencies of TAC will be conducted abiding all COVID-19 protocols. Sanitization and wearing masks will be strictly followed during the election processes.

The Council comprises portions of four districts, namely Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai, and Kamrup (M).

Voting will be held in hundred polling centers in six constituencies in Kamrup (M)- Digaru, Dimoria, Sonapur, Na- Khetri, Phongsari, and Ampri. Security officials have already been placed in each polling booth.

A total of 36 TAC constituencies will go to poll on December 17 in parts of Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai, and Kamrup (M) districts. While the polling will be from 7.30 to 4.30 pm in as many as 410 polling stations on December 17, the counting will be from 8 am on December 19."

The Tiwa Autonomous Council polls will be held in four districts in the state - Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai, and Kamrup (M) districts. The voting will begin from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm in as many as 410 polling stations.

The counting of votes is scheduled for December 19, 2020.

However, the Kamrup Metro district administration has declared dry days on the stretch from Khanapara Flyover to Khetri and from Panikhaiti Railway crossing to Morigaon district border under Kamrup (Metro) district on December 16, 17, and 19, 2020, in view of the Tiwa Autonomous Council elections.

Meanwhile, the State Government also declared paid holiday in areas under the jurisdiction of Tiwa Autonomous Council on December 17 to enable the workers/employees to cast their votes on account of the election to the General Council of Tiwa Autonomous Council.
