Guwahati, June 24: Frontline organizations of the Tai Ahom community are of the view that various anti-Assam forces are at work in the State to split the greater Assamese society into fragments. The purpose of these forces is seemingly to mint political and other capital and to exercise authority over the locals.

Highlighting the issue, the Kamrup (M) unit of the Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad and the Kamrup(M) wing of the Tai Ahom Mahila Parishad expressed vehement opposition to such attempts by certain quarters to break up the Assamese society.

Speaking at a meeting organized by Kamrup (M) unit of the Tai Ahom Mahila Parishad at Narengi in the city on June 22, In-charge of the Kamrup(M) unit of the Yuba Parishad Mridul Konwar pointed that Swargadeo Sui-ka-Pha was the first Assamese and the founder of the Assamese society. Hence, he said, that under no circumstances the anti-Assam forces would be allowed to achieve their design and that the Tai Ahom community would take to the streets, if necessary, to uphold the unity of the Assamese and the state.

The meeting was attended among others by the vice president of the central committee of Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad Bhuban Kotoki, its publicity secretary Gunakanta Gogoi, president of the women’s wing Kalpana Gogoi, its working president Juri Gogoi and general secretary Janmoni Gogoi.

The Tai Ahom Mahila Parishad also constituted a sub-committee for the Narengi area of the city at the meeting. This was informed by Tai Ahom Mahila Parishad , Kamrup (M) wing spokes person Moonmi Konwar.
