Target: MGNREGA Schemes In Every Village

GUWAHATI: The construction of PMAY-G houses has been expedited from September 2018, and till date 1,35,356 houses have been completed. The State Panchayat & Rural Development (P&RD) have organized problem-solving melas in every development block with the participation of P&RD Minister Naba Kumar Doley, DCs and other field officials.

According to a press release, the problems that are being faced by the beneficiaries are discussed individually and an action plan to solve problems is given to every beneficiary. The department hopes to achieve the target of completing houses by March 2019.

The department has also taken steps to take schemes under MGNREGA in every village so that the needy people, especially the landless casual labourers, may be benefitted. All job seekers holding job cards will be offered jobs under MGNREGA in the ongoing schemes and steps are being taken to implement new schemes where schemes are not available. The process of sanctioning new schemes is being expedited, the release said. "Target has been fixed to offer minimum 50 days work to the job card holders, especially the landless casual labourers in the rest of the current financial year. Those who are willing to work under MGNREGA but don't have job cards, should apply immediately to their respective Gaon Panchayats," the release said.

Besides paying Old Age Pension, Widow Pension and Divyang Pension under NSAP, Swahid Kushal Konwar Sarbajanin Briddha Pension (SKKSBPA) was launched in October 2, 2018 with the State's own fund. Two lakh eligible senior citizens are being paid pension under this scheme with effect from October, 2017. Pension is also paid to another 4 lakh beneficiaries under SKKSBPA on 5th February last through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Six lakh senior citizens are availing pension under this scheme as of now. The process of verification of new applications is going and target has been fixed to cover 16 lakh beneficiaries under this scheme by 15 February next. The department has appealed to all eligible senior citizens to apply for availing the benefit of this holistic scheme.
