Teachers’ Plea To Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) On Students’ Uniform

GUWAHATI: The Asom Rajyik Prathamik Sanmilani has submitted a memorandum to the Mission Director of the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), Assam with the plea that the process of tender does not deprive students of uniform as it was witnessed in the past.

According to Sanmilan’s secretary general Ratul Chandra Goswami, the students were deprived of their uniform for four years in the past. According to him, the Ministry of HRD (Human Resources Development) has entrusted the responsibility of uniform to the school managing committees. Students were deprived of uniform for four years as a person had moved the court against violation of the directive of the HRD. He claims that students in the State got uniform in 2017-18 as the Sanmilani had to take up the issue with various parties involved. “Now we doubt that the tendering process may invite the logjam as it was witnessed earlier in the supply of uniform,” he said, and added: “We appeal to the SSA to see that the students get their uniform in accordance with the directive issued by the HRD under the Right to Education Act.”
