TET Teachers Dissatisfied With Some Clauses of New Guideline

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The contractual TET teachers under the Sarva Sikshya Abhiyan (SSA) alleged that certain additional clauses in the renewal agreement are disagreeable towards the teachers.

As per the contractual TET teachers’ allegations, the renew service agreement had certain clauses that were unsavoury and did not comply with the teachers requirements. They further alleged that the teachers were threatened about cancellation of sick leaves and casual leaves if they failed to sign the agreement.

With an intention to solve the dilemma, the Xodou Axom TET Siksha Joutha Mancha (XATSJM) organized a meeting with the senior SSA officials. However, during questioning, SSA denied the allegations completely and informed that the agreement stood the same as last years and no extra clauses were added to it.

XATSJM general secretary Nirmal Chandra Baruah while speaking to The Sentinel said, “We had a meeting with the education minister on September 2 and opened before him the bulk of our problems which included regularization of all working contractual TET teachers with pay protection, which he assured to resolve at the earliest. A lot of time has gone by since then and we are still in the same rough patch. Till the contractual teachers are not regularized, at least the pay should remain at par with the permanent teachers.”
