GUWAHATI: The All Assam Primary TET Qualified teachers' Association has expressed disappointment over the State Budget 2022-23 and said that their hopes of good tidings have been dashed by the Government.

The association's president Trailokya Deka said that State Education Minister Ranoj Pegu had given an assurance during at meeting on March 11 that there would be good news for the 40,000 TET qualified teachers who are working under the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) as contractual teachers. According to the Deka, the Education Minister had mentioned issues such as release of arrear dearness allowance (DA) while referring to good news in the Budget. However, Deka said, these teachers have been virtually insulted as there is nothing for them in the Budget and they have become dejected.

"If the Education Minister does not fulfil his assurance, we will have no option other than resuming our suspended agitational programme," He said.
