Thieves in guise of beggars arrested in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Geetanagar police arrested a five-member gang wanted in many cases yesterday. The members of the gang give police and others the slips by staying in the guise of beggars in front of the Shukreshwar Temple in Guwahati.

The gang members are Akash Das, Raju Medhi and Subham Nayan hailing from Bhangagarh, Sanjib Baishya of Beltola and Biki Das of Chandmari.

In another incident, the Chandmari police arrested a youth, Utpal Nath, red-handed when he was stealing an AC copper pipe from the Jyotinagar area this morning. He hails from Jalukbari.
