GUWAHATI: Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president Atul Bora said that the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led coalition government in the State had the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Talking to The Sentinel on the completion of one year of the State Government, Bora said, "Besides the Central Government, all Union ministers cooperate with the State Government. It is why the people have seen a change during the first year of this government. The adage goes that 'morning shows the day'. The first year of the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government sailed smoothly. The Chief Minister is working with a vision to place Assam among the five top states in the country. The recently launched seven cancer care hospitals in the state are a milestone in the entire nation, let alone Assam. We don't see such a huge investment for cancer treatment anywhere in India."

On public service, Bora said, "The biggest success of this government is the effort to provide services to the public at their doorsteps. An example of this is Mission Basundhara. People now can apply online for a driving licence from home. Youths can register their names in employment exchanges online from home. Youths can also apply for jobs online from home."

The AGP president said, "This government is following a line in resolving the long-pending boundary disputes with the neighbouring states. We have reached an understanding of six disputed stretches with Meghalaya. The process for resolving the disputes in the remaining six stretches will start soon. The war against drugs is a great success."

On the alliance, Bora said, "Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma respects all allies. It strengthens the bond among the alliance partners."

The State Cabinet has two AGP ministers and one from the UPPL
