Three-fold rise in population worries MP Indresh Kumar

GUWAHATI: RSS national executive and national coordinator of Jansankhya Samadhaan Foundation (JSF)-NE chapter Indresh Kumar expressed concern over the three-fold rise of population in the country after independence.

At the inaugural function of the official website of JSF-NE chapter here on Wednesday evening, Indresh Kumar said, "During independence India had 30 plus crore population, after division again in 1971 the landmark is reduced but population has gone up three times more which is 130 crore presently.

"The root cause of all the problems lies with population explosion against the available natural resources. In order to have population control he urged all to support for the enactment of the population control law."

He also appealed to all to support the initiative of Bharat to free Tibet from China and Gilgit-Balochistan from Pakistan.

"It is possible to achieve the goal if we change the perceptive of looking at this issue of population explosion beyond sex, creed, caste, community, religion etc as a true Bharatiya who care for the nation as mother," he claimed.

Speaking on the internal situation of the country, Indresh said that the deepening roots of religion and casteism are dangerous for the country. India has to become a united India and the Hindu culture has to make way for the world, then one has to rise above religion and casteism. A culture that finds Shri Ram in every particle has to end disharmony, he said.

Lastly, he hoped that now the population control law will be enacted at the earliest and will be equally applicable to all citizens of the country.

JSF-NE chairperson Sailendra Pandey said, "Population in Uttar Purbo Bharat is unique and diverse as well from all aspects – geographical, political, social indigenous belief system, way of life, food habit, belief etc. Again 7 states have its own dynamics, as a whole, a bit complex than other parts of Bharat.

"Let us look at population figure till 2020, Arunachal Pradesh: 17.12 lakhs; area 83743 km.

Assam 3.06 crore, area 78438km; Meghalaya 37.72 lakh, area 22429 km; Manipur 35.02 lakh, area 22327 km; Mizoram 13.09 lakh, area 21081 km; Nagaland 20.73 lakhs, area 16579 km; and Tripura 41.55 lakhs, area 10491.65 km.

"If we look at these states it got reflected that Assam is more heavily populated than any other states of Uttar Purbo Bharat. The density of population of Assam as of now is 397/km. "Considering the demographic pattern of the region, plan has been prepared. For Assam a strict population control law which translates that penalty will be imposed for more than two children. Otherwise, it would be just impossible to protect Assam from the wrath of excessive population. Again there are many ways this population are being generated, one such is through religious belief, object is to expand own group of people having same belief (precisely Muslim), in this the uneducated masses are targeted.

"Secondly, many more people of Bangladesh origin are entering illegally into Assam in which education cannot help the common of the adjacent areas, BSF and other government machineries are solely responsible this also need to be taken into consideration to have check on population growth. Apparently, in other states of the Northeast where in mostly indigenous community known as Adivasis are living the population growth rate is very low which itself is a threat to protect their own community. There are many more aspects to cover however JSF-NE would like to have a proper Samadhan (solution) for the region and especially for Assam."
