Three more foot overbridges to come up in Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government came to power in the State, three prominent foot overbridges were inaugurated in Guwahati – one at Adabari, another at Maligaon and one at Sukreswar Mandir. Besides these three, some other foot overbridges were also inaugurated in the city before the 2021 assembly polls.

Guwahati will get three more foot overbridges – at Fancy Bazar, at Paltan Bazar and Zoo Road near the Shraddhanjali Kanan. The Public Works Department (PWD) has already prepared the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the three foot overbridges and construction work is expected to start in the first half of 2022.

After the inauguration of the flyover at Dispur Supermarket, the traffic problem in the area has been resolved considerably, said PWD officials. The PWD expects that with the construction of the three new foot overbridges, pedestrians will be largely benefitted.
