Timber-loaded truck along Assam-Meghalaya border area seized, two nabbed

GUWAHATI: Based on secret information on Thursday an illegal timber loaded truck (Regd no ML 06 9516) was seized from 15th Mile, Byrnihat, along the Assam-Meghalaya border area. Two persons – Mahesh Nath (60) and Baba Nangbri (40) -- have been apprehended. In this regard a case (771/2020 u/s 468/471/420 IPC, R/W Sec 41 of Assam Forest Regulation Act) has been registered with Basistha police station.

Investigation is on to unearth if any nexus exists and all those involved in such illegal transportation and sale of timber.
