Tout held at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital

GUWAHATI: Yet another tout was arrested from the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Wednesday after being caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 500 for arranging a 2D ECO test of a patient.

The tout has been identified as Bhupen Mahanta, a resident of Kamalpur in the Kamrup district.

It may be mentioned that a Grade-IV employee of the GMCH, one Gautam Das, was also arrested on Tuesday for taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 for providing a death certificate to the family of a deceased person.

According to police sources, another man named Ramen Das is being interrogated on the basis of information provided by Gautam Das during interrogation.
