Tout nabbed on charges of stealing medicines in GMCH

GUWAHATI: Just a day after the arrest of a Pharmacist of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on charges of stealing medicines, a tout named Biju Das was caught at the hospital premises on Wednesday on the charge of taking bribes in the name of providing an ICU bed to a particular patient. Das, a resident of Hajo, was apprehended after the relatives of a patient complained to the GMCH authorities that the tout had taken Rs. 5000 from them on the basis of a false assurance to provide an ICU bed.

Das was later handed over to the Bhangagarh police.

Meanwhile, the GMCH authorities on Wednesday placed under suspension Mridul Deka, the pharmacist who was caught stealing medicines on Tuesday.
