Translation Prizes to Two litterateurs from Assam

GUWAHATI: Two litterateurs from Assam – Partha Pratim Hazarika and Nabin Brahma – have been selected for Sahitya Akademi Translation prizes, 2018. Hazarika has been selected for the award for his translation work – Ramayan: Gangar Pora Brahmaputraloi. The original work is Ramayana: From Ganga to Brahmaputra by Dr. Indira Goswami. Nabin Brahma has got his selection for his translation work Binodini in Bodo. The original work is Chokher Bali of Rabindranath Tagore. Dipak Kumar Sharma has also been selected for an Assamese poetry collection, Asama Vanmanjari, translated by him into Sanskrit. The original poetry collection is of various authors.

The Executive Board of the Sahitya Akademi, which met at Rabindra Bhawan, New Delhi, on Monday under the chairmanship of its president Dr. Chandrashekhar Kambar, approved selection of 24 books for the Sahitya Akademi Translation Prize 2018.
