Two robberies in Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: Robbers looted Rs 2.5 lakh in two separate incidents in the city on Monday.

According to police sources, an amount of Rs 1 lakh was surreptitiously looted inside a city bus in the ABC area here from a person named Abu Bakkar Siddiqui, who was carrying the money on behalf of another person to pay for purchase of tiles.

In the second incident, an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh was snatched by two motorbike-borne miscreants from a person named Dhiren Baruah at the Satgaon area here. Baruah was returning home after withdrawing the money from the UCO Bank branch at Bonda when the incident occurred, the sources said.
