Union Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal graced ongoing 21st National Janajati Sports Meet in Sonapur

Sonapur: The Union Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal visited and graced the ongoing 21st National Janajati Sports Meet which is going on at the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) Sonapur today.

The Union Minister addressed the young sportspersons in which he stated that the Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram is rendering great service to the nation by organising sports competitions from cluster level to the national levels and tracing the young talents to promote them further.

He also expressed hope that with the grace of Maa Kamakhya, the young participants of the sports meet shall go far ahead in their sports careers and bring laurels to the nation by winning even the Olympic medals.

The Minister also thanked the authorities for organizing the sports meet at Guwahati in North East.

The Union Minister later inaugurated the final round of Archery competitions. After closely observing the arrangements made for the competitions and interacting with the technical delegates, the minister congratulated the organising committee and Akhil Bharatiya Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram for the exemplary arrangements.

It may be mentioned that the 21st National Janajati Sports Meet was inaugurated on Friday. Among the different categories of participants, the main events on which competitions held were mostly races of 100mtrs, 800 mtrs, 1500 mtrs, Shot put and Archery. Preliminary rounds of Archery competitions were also held.

On the first day of the event, both boys and girls were found to be in utmost spirit and enthusiasm in participating in the events. The winners of today's events will be awarded medals and certificates in a special programme at 6 pm. Display of colourful cultural items by various teams of participants will also be held in the prize distribution programme.
