GUWAHATI: UNISED on Saturday, in collaboration with IIT Guwahati, organized a live webinar on — The World Day against Child Labour. On this occasion Centre of Research & Excellence for Advanced Technology in Education (CREATE) at Research Park (IITGuwahati) was inaugurated in the presence of B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, Principal Secretary, Department of Education, Government of Assam on behalf of Dr Ranoj Pegu, Minister of Education, Government of Assam.

The objective of this initiative (CREATE) is to develop partnerships and a holistic centre for successful grassroots implementation of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4) on quality education, along with aiding the National initiatives such as National Education Policy-2020, Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan and Atal Innovation Mission across India particularly focusing on Himalayan and North Eastern States.

The webinar began with the introductory speech on the Importance of sustainable development for human existence with a special emphasis in SDG -4 by Dr R.N. Lenka, Director- Pedagogy Research and Innovation. After an introductory speech Professor G. Krishnamoorthy, Dean IISI, Professor in-charge, Research Park, IIT Guwahati gave a welcoming speech in which he spoke about the dynamic work IIT Guwahati in collaboration with UNISED is doing.

IIT Guwahati's input and efforts during the COVID-19 Pandemic were extremely appreciable, stated a release. He also talked about the IIT Guwahati Research Park-UNISED which is a platform for innovation where the Industry and Academia can meet which will make the region better for innovation and education. Professor G. Krishnamoorthy thanked UNISED for joining hands with IIT Guwahati Research Park 'CREATE Centre' to take the country and nation to new heights.

Dr Harsh Chaturvedi, Faculty, IIT- Guwahati talked about UNISED-IIT Guwahati Convergence for Achieving SDG-4. He also talked about the role of IIT Guwahati to help and contribute at the grassroots level in the northeast community and understand their problem. He emphasized a partnership among the stakeholders right from the policymakers to the startups to the government and connecting the missing linkages between HEI like IITs and vocational training institutes with school education by which school education can get benefitted particularly the North Eastern States and also bridge up gender inequality which is there.
