University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM) inks pact with National Law University

GUWAHATI: A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) and the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM) at Amingaon, Guwahati on Thursday. The purpose of this MoU is to create a framework for collaboration between the two higher education institutions for the benefit of students and professionals and other stakeholders. The agreement was signed by Prof. (Dr.) J. S. Patil, Vice Chancellor of NLUJAA and Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of USTM.

Signing the MoU, Prof. (Dr.) J. S. Patil said that this mutual understanding of USTM with NLUJAA will provide all kinds of academic support to the University School of Law & Research, which is a constituent of USTM in order to achieve excellence. “This will create a win-win situation for both the universities for mutual exchange of expert opinion, use of infrastructure facilities, sharing of knowledge and best practices in class through faculty exchange programmes and a lot more”, he said.

Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of USTM has congratulated the Vice Chancellor of NLUJAA for their outstanding infrastructure and unparalleled facilities for students. He said that the agreement will benefit USTM in various ways. The National Law University is one of the best universities for law in the country. Both the signatory institutions agreed to organize different programmes of legal studies, human rights for lawyers and graduates from time to time. USTM and National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam will work together to conduct short-term certificate courses, diploma courses, degree and post graduate courses in Law and related areas to generate awareness about different aspect of law, training programmes to address requirements of industrial professionals. The collaboration with USTM is expected to enhance training, research and developmental activities conducted by both the Universities through assimilation of emerging knowledge on laws and related matters. USTM is expected to achieve academic excellence in partnership with international agencies facilitated by National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam to become one of the world leaders in producing knowledge in the field of Corporate and Commercial laws, Intellectual Property Laws, International Laws, Environmental Laws, Constitutional Laws, Human Rights Laws of the Industry which will contribute in economic development as desired by UGC for service to the society, a press release stated.
