UPPL alleges corruption of Rs 1,000 crore in Bodoland Territorial Council

GUWAHATI: The United People's Party, Liberal (UPPL) has alleged that during the BPF (Bodoland People's Front) regime, corruptions of over Rs 1,000 crore have taken place in the BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council).

Addressing the media persons here on Friday, UPPL president Pramod Boro appealed to the Assam government and the State Election Commission to save democracy in the BTAD (Bodoland Territorial Autonomous District). Alleging HagramaMohilary of being the 'saudagar' of corruption in BTC, he said, "The people of BTAD have witnessed huge corruption by Hagrama-led BPF government. Leaders of BPF and close friend of HagramaMohilary have built huge wealth through corruption in the last 17 years. The Mohilary-led The United People's Party, Liberal (UPPL) has alleged that during the BPF (Bodoland People's Front) regime, corruptions of over Rs 1,000 crore have taken place in the BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council).overnment has done over Rs 1,000 crore corruptions in procurement related schemes. The CAG reports is the proof document of the corruption done by the HagramaMohilary led BPF government."

Further, he underlined that rampant corruption has also occurred in the MNGREGA and PMGAY schemes in the BTAD during the BPF regime.

"A social audit was conducted to evaluate the MGNREGA work in the BTAD area. It was found that Rs 457.94 crore of total Rs 621.06 crore has been miss-utilized by the functionaries during 2018-19, 2019-20, and 2020-21 till August," he said.

He pointed out that corruption has also occurred in the name of food and civil supply.

"The suppliers of the SamabaySamitee are unable to get their commission amount of supply for the last 42 months despite the amount was released by the Assam government to the BTAD. Over Rs 100 crores was held in the DONER fund in the BTAD. Many fake and duplicate schemes were taken during the BPF regime," Boro opined.

He alleged that 90 per cent of job cards in the BTAD are fake. He said the BPF workers are doing corruption in the name of job cards. Boro demanded that a forensic inquiry should be initiated to identify the fake signatures in the job cards.

Further, talking about the BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) agreement, he said it will be a milestone in the development of BTR.

"Through this agreement Rs 50,000 crore will be invested in the BTR for its development. Now, the BPF chief has said that the BTR agreement is worthless. In the last 17 years, the BPF didn't do any infrastructure development or opened educational institutions in the region. Due to the BTR agreement, the region will see development within 10 years. Thus, someone opposing the BTR agreement is against development," the leader asserted.

Lastly, he called for early elections in the BTAD.

"The Bihar elections are underway. Several by-elections were also held in many States. Similary, following COVID-19 protocols BTC election should be held immediately. We are confident that we will win over 30 seats in the election," Bora added.
